This summer I have decided to offer two social skills groups for adolescents in my office in Chester Springs. The groups are co-ed and one will be for middle school (for adolescents entering 6th-8th grades) and the other will be for high school (9th-12th grades).
I have worked with adolescents for over 10 years and have run groups in a number of different settings. I’ve noticed that there are very few social skills groups offered, although these are in high demand. And outside of the Main Line there are almost none.
I decided to put together some groups where adolescents can learn about an important topic, share their experiences, practice skills, and engage in fun activities (while having pizza). The goal is for participants to learn, while having fun and feeling safe and socializing with peers like them. Parents will appreciate the opportunity for their children to get out of the house this summer, while learning and practicing skills with other kids their age. It’s important for children and adolescents to stay engaged in some kind of structured activity over the summer- particularly when they have social challenges.
All sessions will be held in my office, which is 5 minutes from the Downingtown interchange of the PA turnpike, convenient to places like Downingtown, Exton, West Chester, Phoenixville, Glenmoore, Coatesville, Thorndale, Pottstown, Malvern, and Paoli.
Details are below. Feel free to share with anyone who may be interested, and contact me with any questions: email@example.com or 610-482-4496.
